Election 2024 Riding Brief: Vancouver-Renfrew

This is one of 93 riding briefs that will be published ahead of the 2024 provincial election.
vancouver-renfrew
Vancouver-Renfrew Electorial District
  • Current MLA: Adrian Dix, BC NDP (first elected in 2005 in Vancouver-Kingsway)
  • Candidates:
    • BC NDP: Adrian Dix
    • BC United: None nominated yet
    • BC Greens: None nominated yet
    • BC Conservatives: Tom Ikonomou
  • Description:
    • Longtime incumbent Adrian Dix of the BC NDP has held the seat since 2005, winning in 2020 with more than 67% of the vote.
    • Centered on the neighbourhood of Renfrew-Collingwood, this riding is effectively a renamed Vancouver-Kingsway. Compared to its western sibling in Kensington, the riding has a smidge more industry and manufacturing jobs, and fewer of its residents have gone to university.
    • The riding is 37% Chinese. In particular, those who live south of Kingsway and 41st tend to be a bit more right-leaning than their counterparts elsewhere in the riding.
    • It is also home to sizable Filipino and Vietnamese groups, both of which strongly support the BC NDP.
    • Finally, the most left-leaning portion of the riding can be found in its northwest corner with Trout Lake. The BC Greens came second there in some polling stations in the last two provincial elections.
  • Election 2020 Results (with 2024 boundaries):
    • BC NDP – 69%
    • BC Liberals – 20%
    • BC Greens – 9%
    • Other – 1%
